Faculty Promotion: Faculty promotion may occur whenever the faculty member meets the specified criteria. Promotion to Associate Professor: For Assistant Professors, promotion to Associate Professor must occur by the start of the 7th year of employment, which necessitates submission of your complete promotion package to the Department of Neurology by July 1st at the start of your 6th year. Note that many of your materials are due by May 1st, two months earlier, to begin the process of external and internal letter requests for your dossier. The School of Medicine rules allow for a faculty member to petition the Dean for an extension of the seven year probationary period, and the application must be submitted no later than the start of the 7th year (or the faculty member’s final year) to meet the deadline for SOM promotion process that is currently set as October 31st.
